Tea Ceremony Activities

Join practitioners from Urasenke Philadelphia during Sakura Weekend at the 2024 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival for a unique Japanese matcha tea experience.

Unlike the traditional, hour-long tea ceremony demonstrations held at various times of the year at the Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center, this special “Matcha in the Greenhouse” Sakura Weekend event will focus on smaller, intimate gatherings for groups of up to 3 to 4 people in a private tatami mat setting. Couples and single guests are also welcome.

These shorter tea ceremony experiences are tailored to approximately 15-minute sittings and will allow guests more time to enjoy more of the many weekend festival programs during their visit. Each guest will receive a tea and sweet while experiencing the informal tea ceremony.
