About the Event
The World Affairs Table is a new series of programming from the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. These events will feature a discussion on a topic pertaining to a bilateral relationship between the U.S. and another country, which will then be followed by a culinary tasting event with cuisine and drink from the country of focus. The World Affairs Table allows audience members to both engage in substantive foreign policy discussions and experience culture and cuisine, all in the span of one evening! Each country and topic will be announced two months ahead of the event.
In March, the Council will host a panel discussion on the US-Japan defense relationship and the importance of the emerging technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. Following the discussion, which will include time for audience Q&A, audience members will have the opportunity to enjoy a reception featuring assorted Sashimi, Nigiri, Maki, and other Japanese cuisine. The bar will feature saké, a Japanese rice wine, and Sapporo, a Japanese beer, as well as other soft drinks, beer, and wine.
