Guest Instructor Miwako Kishi
We are excited to announce this month’s Ouchigohan! class will feature a guest chef and cooking teacher of her own online cooking school, Miwako Kishi, of the very popular website Miwa’s Japanese Cooking. Her recipes are often plant based and feature balanced meals that embrace the Japanese concept ichiju sansai—one soup, three side dishes. This month Miwa will be showing us how to make a simple and delicious vegan tofu miso curry and miso yogurt pickles.
Ouchigohan! series host Debra Samuels from Table for Two will be cooking alongside Miwa-sensei for this month’s class, where the guest host will join us from her home kitchen in Japan. An online Q&A session with both hosts will follow the class.

Step-by-step cooking instructions with demonstrations are provided by Debra Samuels from TABLE FOR TWO USA, which also produces the innovative series Wa-Shokuiku: Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese!, a program inspired and informed by the educational philosophy, flavors and food of Japan.
Presented online as a monthly series, this month’s Ouchigohan! program is hosted by the Japan-America Society of Washington DC and joined by Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia, The Japan Society of Boston, The Japan-America Society of Georgia, Japan America Society of Colorado, Japan-America Society of Indiana, The Japan-America Society of Houston, and Japan Society New York.
