Join us for the April edition of the family-friendly online Japanese cooking class series Ouchigohan! and cook along with us from your own kitchen!
This month, participants will learn how to make fruits sando — those colorful works of edible art often served at breakfast or as a snack in fruit parlors and department store food halls across Japan.
Is it a dessert? Is it a sandwich? It’s both! It’s Fruits Sando! To make this delightful treat, a kaleidoscope of fruit, strawberries, orange, kiwi, and bananas is arranged on pillows of homemade whipped cream and sandwiched between pieces of fluffy bread. When this layered sandwich is sliced at a precise angle, it reveals a gorgeous cross-section of delicious fresh fruit.
Join us for the April installment of this monthly cooking series and learn techniques for making fruits sando at home, including how to make fresh whipped cream and how to select and place the fruit to maximum effect when cut.
