Members Only Night – July

Want to experience the calm and quiet of Shofuso while it’s closed off to regular visitors? Join our special members-only admission hours to Shofuso on Thursday, July 7th!

In Japan, July 7th marks the celebration of Tanabata, or the Star Festival. Decorations for this festival often use bamboo branches or poles with strips of colorful paper tied to them. Wishes are written on the paper (called tanzaku) so that they may reach the deities and be granted.

Write your own wish and admire the heavens at Shofuso tonight! There will be light refreshments to enjoy, while supplies last. The Urasenke Tea School will also conduct a small tea ceremony in the main room of the house, so feel free to drop in and meet the wonderful tea teachers who practice this beautiful art. If you have a yukata, feel free to wear it, or bring it with you with an obi and have Tamiko, our volunteer, help you wear it! We recommend wearing a tank top or t/shirt and leggings under the yukata.

Registration is requested to secure a spot. Not a member? Join now to register and attend Members Only Night!
