Shofuso tells the story of the friendship between Japan and Philadelphia and this year, we’re celebrating 60 years of Shofuso in West Fairmount Park. We need your help to maintain Shofso’s unique and vital legacy.
Last year, we conducted a $75,000 maintenance project on our hinoki bark roof, which we do in five year intervals. Upcoming projects include restoration and maintenance of our historic landscape and pond, cleaning the Hiroshi Senju fusuma murals, and conduct conservation carpentry repairs on the house itself.
Your gift to our dedicated Preservation Fund ensures Shofuso will be enjoyed by future generations.
By preserving this historic American landscape, we demonstrate how we value diversity in America. With Shofuso preserved and available, everyone has an opportunity to experience authentic Japanese art and culture right here in West Fairmount Park.
