Theresa Carney joined JASGP in April 2024 and is excited about working to promote Japanese art, business and cultural events in the Philadelphia region. In addition to having been born and growing up in Japan, she maintained her ties to Japan during her previous careers. Her extensive international business experience included 12 years based in Tokyo, with Cigna and Citigroup, where she set up two insurance companies. Later as an attorney/consultant for law firms in New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Tokyo, she specialized in cases involving Japanese corporations.

She has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Bryn Mawr College, an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and law degrees, JD/LLM-Taxation, from Villanova Law School.

Theresa does pro bono work for immigrant/asylum clients. She is currently the President of the Stanford Club of Philadelphia, GSB Philadelphia Chapter Leader, and Vice President of the Bryn Mawr Club of Philadelphia.
