Ryu-rei (Table Style) Tea Ceremony

Experience the elegance of the Japanese Way of Tea with a live Ryu-rei (Table Style)— a graceful, seated demonstration.

Held at the Horticulture Center Greenhouse, this 20-minute experience offers a peaceful pause within the festival to celebrate the spirit of spring and the beauty of cherry blossoms. It is presented by Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

What to Expect

In this light, 20-minute session, you will:

• Watch a brief and elegant demonstration of the tea-making art
• Taste a bowl of freshly whisked matcha paired with a seasonal dry sweet (higashi)
• Relax and enjoy a moment of calm appreciation amidst the festival excitement

The Japanese Tea Ceremony is more than just making tea — it is a moment to slow down, appreciate beauty, and share hospitality. In the midst of the celebration, this experience offers a peaceful opportunity to connect with the spirit of spring.

Whether you are new to tea ceremony or simply curious about Japanese culture, we warmly welcome you to join us.
