Join us for the June edition of the family-friendly online Japanese cooking class series Ouchigohan! and cook along with us or just watch from your own kitchen. On the menu this month are norimaki or sushi rolls, veggies with sesame dressing, and mugicha, a healthy roasted barley tea. Perfect for a summer picnic!

Program Description

Ouchigohan! series host Debra Samuels will lead the class as they select from tuna-mayo, cucumbers, avocado, and imitation crab as fillings for their sushi rolls. Crush nutty sesame seeds into a delicious sauce to top veggies and learn how simple it is to make a pitcher of barley tea.

Bonus Activity!

During this month’s class, Debra Sensei will also teach participants how to tie a Japanese knot to make a set of chopstick rests, or hashioki.

おうちごはん!Ouchigohan! – Japanese Home Cooking is a family-friendly online cooking class series. Step-by-step cooking instructions with demonstrations are provided by Debra Samuels from TABLE FOR TWO USA, which also produces the innovative series Wa-Shokuiku: Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese!, a program inspired and informed by the educational philosophy, flavors and food of Japan.

Presented online as a monthly series, this month’s Ouchigohan! program is hosted by the Japan-America Society of Washington DC and joined by Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia, The Japan Society of Boston, The Japan-America Society of Georgia, Japan America Society of Colorado, Japan-America Society of Indiana, The Japan-America Society of Houston, and Japan Society New York.
