Bonsai Workshop

Spend a Saturday afternoon with us learning the ins and outs of bonsai while crafting your own to take home! This program includes a presentation on bonsai and 2+ hour hands-on workshop. Trees, pots, soil and other supplies are included with registration. This workshop is $115 ($105 JASGP members)

About the Instructor

Tom De Simone has been involved with bonsai since 1977. For many years, he worked weekends for
and studied with Chase Rosade of Rosade Bonsai in New Hope, PA. Tom has taken numerous courses on subjects such as growing pines and quince, forest plantings, carving, advanced wiring and tropical bonsai design. He has assisted Mr. Rosade in beginner classes and helped care for the Studio’s extensive collection. He has also taken numerous courses given by Salvatore Liporace of
Studio Botanico Bonsai in Milan, Italy in advanced design and grafting and Francois Jeker in carving.

Mr. De Simone is the founder and current President of the Bonsai Society of South Jersey and has his own collection of more than 25 trees. He also holds a B.S. Degree in Journalism from Temple University and is a retired U.S. Army Master Army Aviator and Instructor Pilot (helicopters) and holds private, commercial and instrument airplane licenses. He and his wife are lifelong residents of the Delaware Valley and they currently reside in Southern New Jersey.
