Yokai are supernatural creatures and spirits from Japanese folklore that live all around us. Learn about them in this all ages weekend event at Shofuso! Families can participate in a scavenger hunt and win prizes. Listen to kamishibai tales of ogres, water imps, and goblins, and craft a yokai to take home!

Activities:

• Scavenger Hunt: follow the clues and find real objects around Shofuso that inspired yokai myths
• Kamishibai Storytelling (every hour starting at 12 PM): experience Japan’s classic paper theater style of storytelling with slightly spooky stories
• Crafts: sit down with staff and make spooky origami!
• Tsukumogami Flea Market (only on Saturday, October 28): in Japanese folklore, tsukumogami are objects or tools that come to life after 100 years of use. Explore our Yokai-inspired flea market, where vintage Japanese wonders, each with its own unique story and spirit, find new purpose!
