Otsukimi (moon-viewing) is a Japanese holiday which celebrates the harvest moon, and is usually celebrated in September and October. During Otsukimi, tables are set up facing the horizon so revelers can watch the moon rise, and viewing tables are adorned with Japanese pampas grass and tsukimi-dango (rice dumplings).
Celebrate the harvest season at Shofuso during Otsukimi Family Weekend. Visitors can enjoy seasonal decor, listen to folktales retold as kamishibai stories, and make their own scrolls and uchiwa fans. All activities are free with regular admission.
