The Greater Philadelphia region is home to numerous Japan-oriented organizations. Informally referred to as the “Japan 7” or “J7,” these organizations have different focuses, but often collaborate on important projects. Most notably, Japan 7 members worked together on the Philadelphia-Japan Disaster Relief Fund to raise money for the victims of the Tohoku Tsunami and Earthquake on March 11, 2011.

The JASGP is an association of individuals, corporations and organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region. Its mission is to promote and encourage a better understanding of the business, cultural, social, educational and political practices and customs of Japan and US.

JAGP is a non-profit organization serving the Japanese community in the Greater Philadelphia region since 1964. Its mission is to promote friendship amongst Japanese and to provide information and counseling to Japanese newcomers in the region.
Japanese American Citizens League, Philadelphia Chapter
Founded in 1929, the JACL’s mission is to advocate for the civil rights of Asian Americans and other minorities. The Philadelphia Chapter, in existence for 60 years, seeks interested individuals to help us to support our civil and humanitarian goals.
Japanese Christian Church of Philadelphia
Founded in 1944, the Japanese Christian Church of Philadelphia has been serving Japanese speaking Christians in the Greater Philadelphia for 70 years. JCCP is a member of the Presbytery of Philadelphia of the Presbytery Church (USA) and is located in the Overbrook area near Friends Central School.
Japanese Language School of Philadelphia
The Japanese Language School of Philadelphia, founded in 1972, offers instruction in 20 programs including Japanese curriculum as defined by the Ministry of Education, Japanese as a second language classes, and Japanese pre-school classes.

Shofuso Japanese House and Garden is a traditional-style Japanese house and nationally-ranked garden in Philadelphia’s West Fairmount Park. As both a historic site and a museum, it houses a viewing garden with koi pond and island, a tea garden, and a courtyard garden.
