Shofuso Japanese House and Garden is pleased to partner with Nagasaki University on a gardening workshop that will bring American landscape architects and landscape architecture students to Kyoto, home to several UNESCO World Heritage gardens. Many American landscape architects have been inspired to create groundbreaking new after studying Japanese gardens, and this week-long trip will afford participants the opportunity to take behind-the-scenes tours of fourteen historic gardens, with opportunities to study alongside professional Japanese gardeners. The opportunity to meet people from different cultural backgrounds who share the same interests will be a great asset for workshop participants!
“The Japanese Garden in Japan: An International Workshop for American Architects and Landscape Architecture Students” will run from August 6 – August 11, and takes place in Kyoto, Japan. Applications are required for the workshop – about ten participants will be selected. Proposals for the workshop must be submitted to Dr. Seiko Goto, School of Environmental Science, Nagasaki University, no later than April 30.
