The Youth Program Technology Intern will work with Shofuso’s summer program and oversee a group of local youth (13-16 years) as they create a summertime educational blog for their peers, including content such as photos, videos, instructional visual arts tutorials, interviews, and informative posts about the arts and culture of Japan, as well the historical house and garden. The Intern will lead them in the creation of content such as photos, videos, instructional visual arts tutorials, interviews, and informative posts about Japanese culture and art.
The Intern will prepare a training workshop at youth orientation, create and oversee a weekly schedule of blog posts, develop a cohesive design for online content and give feedback on the youth’s writing, photo, and video projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience working with and managing youth.
Projects will include:
- Creating online content and activities for a middle school/teen audience
- Developing lessons plans and activities for youth
- Building a portfolio of design and educational content
- Leading youth in activities and programming, and instruct them in basic photography and video skills
The intern must have strong communication and research skills. S/he is highly-organized and will be able to meet his/her own deadlines and make sure the youth can meet theirs. S/he is a talented photographer and videographer, and understands basic digital editing. Preference will go to candidates who have experience working with and supervising youth.
