So you want Tokyo style but can’t exactly afford to go across the world and pick up a new wardrobe. Not a problem. There are a lot of websites online (some based in Asia, some in the U.S.) that have affordable, trendy clothes like you would see in Shibuya or Harajuku. I’ll share with you a few of my favorites!
Minkyshop is super awesome. The site in in English and ships worldwide. They are constantly getting new products fresh of the pages of the latest Japanese fashion magazines in and carry gyaru brands such as Liza Lisa and Snidel. The prices are very reasonable and they always have sale section. A lot of customers write reviews on the size fits and quality, which is always a plus. Only downside is products become out of stock fast! There are a few things I waited to buy, and now they are gone.
2 Tokyo Hardcore
This is an actual shop located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A little more punk rock a little less Traditional Japanese, this sight features mostly screen-printed tees, tanks, shorts with cute sayings on it like “Tokyo Hardcore” or “Toki Doki”. They also carry accessories such as Hello Kitty phone covers. There is mens stuff here too!
Pros: This site has a lot of stuff. I’m talking, thousands of items. I actually have never actually even looked at them all because it would take too long. It is a Japanese site that ships internationally and for sure, you will be the only girl in Philly rocking the clothes on here! Cons:The prices are cheap, but unfortunately the quality seems to be a little cheap too. I’d say however, pros outweigh the cons.
This is for you Cosplayers/Lolita fans out there. I’m not too familiar with these scenes but I know especially if you are on a tight budget, this is th place for you. When I was in Japan, I visited both the Osaka and Tokyo loactions of Bodyline with a friend and snagged a cute hat! The stores, and website ofcourse are filled with Skirts, Jackets, Headpiecs, school girl costumes—the works! Whether you are goth, girly, baby, pretty or cute. They also have some really cool shoes including Lolita Maryjanes and punk creepers- which are really in the season!
