A breath of fresh air is on the way for J-RPG fans! It was announced recently that the game Nuni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will have a Western release! The planned release date is the first quarter of 2013.
For those not familiar with this title, let me fill you in. Nuni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is a title that was worked on by both developer Level-5 (known for games like the Professor Layton and White Knight Chronicles series) and the ever-popular Studio Ghibli! Now, if that doesn’t get your heart beating, I don’t know what will. As anime fans know, Studio Ghibli is known for the breathtaking art, beautiful music, and enthralling stories that they weave together when producing their classic films, such as Spirited Away. Screenshots and trailers for Nuni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch prove that Studio Ghibli has helped make another work of art.
The story of this game revolves around a young boy named Oliver. After his mother passes away, he is given a doll that comes alive from Oliver’s tears. The doll, Drippy, gives Oliver a book that allows him to enter a new world known as “Ni no Kuni”. Ni no Kuni is a parallel reality to Oliver’s world. Drippys tells Oliver that in this world, he may be able to find his mother. Thus, Oliver starts on his journey, befriending people and monsters alike, to find his mother.

Personally, I can’t wait to immerse myself in this new world and see the awe-inspiring landscapes, imaginative creatures, and characters I’m sure I’ll love and relate with. My game list for 2013 has now been started, with Nuni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch right at the very top!
The game will feature both English voiceovers and the original Japanese dialogue, which many JRPG fans (myself included) love to see!
Nuni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will be released as a PS3 Exclusive.
