With Tokyo Fashion Week underway (10-16-10/22), designers are coming out to display their latest collections for Spring and Summer 2012, giving us a glimpse of what to expect in stores and on the streets in the next few months.
Tokyo, more so than New York or Paris, is known for its extreme and wacky fashion that leaves people excited, confused and most importantly- wanting more.
Thus far, my favorite line on the runway is Jenny Fax. The line was created by Taiwanese designer Shueh Jen-Fang, who works as a designer and fabric maker with the famous Japanese designer Mikio Sakabe.
I wish I could have been in Shibuya on the 19th, at a front row seat at the show because even just viewing images online my jaw was dropping!
I’ll describe the line as 1980s bride meets otaku toddler!
Jenny Fax is full of extremely puffy sleeves, anime character prints, and a lot of “half” garments….one piece appears to be the front half of a long skirt and another the top half of a wedding dress.
This kind of fashion may be even too extreme for some of Harajuku’s finest rock.
Regardless, I think of the line as a collective work of art… and maybe some things Lady Gaga could be seen in.
What are your thoughts on the Jenny Fax line?
