Due to popular demand, JASGP is pleased to offer a second summer session of Japanese Classroom, which will be held from the week of July 31 through the week of August 28. Classes are concentrated around a single topic, and each meets for 10 hours over the course of 5 weeks. This session’s topics:
- Survival Japanese: Geared toward students with zero Japanese background, this class covers crucial spoken Japanese phrases for travelers, including greetings, directions, and transactions. Held on Mondays.
- Kanji Bootcamp Part Two: Picking up on Kanji Bootcamp, this course covers proper stroke order and teaches students how to read and write kanji. Recommended for students who have completed Japanese 102 or its equivalent and have a firm grasp of hiragana. Uses the textbook Basic Kanji Book, Vol. 1 by Chieko Kano. Held on Tuesdays.
- JLPT N3 Prep: This prep class uses test questions and study strategies to get students ready to take the JLPT in December. Recommended for students who have completed Japanese 202 or its equivalent. Cost is $300 ($275 for members.) Individualized textbook recommendations will be made. Held on Wednesdays.
- Everyday Encounters: A conversational Japanese class designed to imropve student vocabulary and increase cultural knowledge. Recommended for students who have completed Japanese 102 or its equivalent. Held on Thursdays.
