with Kimono Wasaishi Artisan, Rumi Hirayama

Do you love Japanese kimono? Would you like to make your own yukata cotton kimono, learn how to properly wear one, or see a master Japanese sewing demonstration?  Here’s a great chance!

Kimono artisan, Mrs. Rumi Hirayama, a wasaishi master of over 30 years, is coming to Philadelphia and presenting 4 opportunities for you.

(1) 4 Day Intensive Yukata-Kimono Sewing Workshop*

•    Day 4 includes a yukata dressing lesson
•    Fees: $500, Shofuso members $475 (not including cloth bolt**)
•    Space is limited to 10 persons, adults only
•    Dates: June 5th, 6th, 9th, and 12th from 9 am to 3 pm
•    Place: KyoDaiko Dojo, Wynnefield area in Philadelphia (10 minutes from Shofuso)

(2) 3 hours Yukata-Kimono Dressing Workshop (2 sessions available)*

•    Includes demonstration of how to properly attach han-eri
•    Fee: $50, Shofuso members $45
•    Space is limited to 12 persons per session, adults only
•    Date: June 11th, Saturday :Session 1: 9 am ~ 12 pm, Session 2: 1 pm ~ 4 pm
•    Place: KyoDaiko Dojo, Wynnefield area in Philadelphia (10 minutes from Shofuso)
** Note: Bring your own or a yukata cotton bolt may be purchased. Available for purchase are 2016 new designs. Cost is $200. Please inquire when registering.

(3) Kimono sewing demonstration at Shofuso

•    Come and see a master Japanese seamstress demonstrate her skill
•    Date: June 4th, Saturday 1 pm ~ 4 pm
•    Place: Shofuso  (Shofuso admission fee of $7), Lansdowne and Horticultural Drives, West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA, 19131‎

(4) Free Kimono consultation at Maido!

•    If you are interested making a new kimono, repairing one, changing the size, or have any questions, feel free to ask Hirayama sensei.  Please bring your kimono.
•    Consultations: 20 minutes each.  Walk in, first come first serve.
•    Date: June 7th, Tuesday 10 am ~ 2 pm
