Thank You Nihongo Philacon Participants!
Last Saturday, 39 students from 6 area high schools gathered at Villanova University for a day of competition, crafts, and fun. Now in it’s 11th year, the Nihongo Philacon challenges students of Japanese in a quiz show style competition.
Teamed up with participants from other schools, the students are challenged in translation, kanji, vocabulary and cultural knowledge. After two rounds of good-natured competition, participants enjoy a bento lunch and a workshop. This year’s activity was haiga and combined elements of origami, calligraphy, and kiri-e. Check out the photo gallery for an idea of the fun.
JASGP would like to thank all of the participants, their teachers and their families for their enthusiastic support. Special thanks to the Delaware Valley Teachers of Japanese and Villanova University for their tremendous support of this project.
