Mr. Buscher is an Adjunct Professor at Arcadia University and is active in the film community. He is organizing a screening at IHouse in conjunction with the One Book, One Philadelphia program.
When asked how his interest in Japan was sparked he said:
Since my youth I have always had a deep passion for Japanese Culture because of my family heritage. My Grandmother is Nisei, her family having emigrated from Hiroshima in the mid-1930s. During college and again in grad school, I had the chance to live and study in Japan. I later became involved in film curation and have since coordinated numerous Japanese film screenings to the United Kingdom and US. My knowledge of Japanese culture has allowed me to gain a competitive edge in my professional career, and many of the formative experiences in my life occurred during my time in Japan. For that I will always love Japan. I hope to use this ticket to visit family and friends in Tokyo and Kyoto. I will also catch up with some of my film distribution contacts, if time permits.
