Miss Hokusai (2015)

The annual February Japanese Film Series is presented by the University of Pennsylvania Center for East Asian Studies (UPenn CEAS) and the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP) The theme for 2020 is “Modernism vs. Tradition in Japanese Cinema.” All screenings are free and open to the public. No registration required.

This animated film focuses on the life and works of Japanese artist and ukiyo-e painter Katsushika Hokusai, as seen from the eyes of his daughter, Katsushika O-Ei.
